Travel Recs

There is an abundance of culture and natural beauty in Andalusia, and we encourage you to explore. Málaga is an amazing coastal town, but if you find yourself in Southern Spain for more than our wedding events, we recommend exploring nearby cities such as Granada, Marbella, Seville, and maybe the UK (Gibraltar).

Granada is a 90 minute drive from Málaga, and home to the spectacular Alhambra Palace, a UNESCO heritage site. The city was under Moorish rule from the 8th century, until 1492, when Muhamad XII surrendered to the Catholic monarchs, Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon. It was the last Islamic polity to join the Catholic empire due to the city’s geographic advantage against invasions.

Marbella is a 45 minute drive from Málaga, and home to luxury beach resorts, high-end shopping streets, and multiple Michelin-star restaurants. If you are looking to have a slow-paced, indulgent vacation, this is the city to visit.

Please see below for some recommended things to do and foods to try in each city.
